"How do you spell 'love'?" - Piglet
"You don't spell it...you feel it." - Pooh
~ A.A. Milne
Happy Valentine's is here! It's been so fun planning and preparing for our big party. We're keeping it simple with heart decorations and lots of flowers. For us, Valentines's Day is a fun day to celebrate girl time and the sweetness of mothers and daughters. Plus, it's the perfect day for chocolate and of course, everything pink!
Walks in Victorian settings remind us of the lace trimmings that we love to wear.
This year we're making small heart decorations out of fabric.
"I am certain of nothing but the holiness of the heart's affections, and the truth of imagination."
~ John Keats
"Promise me you'll never forget me because if I thought you would, I'd never leave." ~ A.A. Milne
It's hard to believe that our Nana is gone. I remember sitting down and making old-fashioned Valentines out of paper and decorating them with real lace. Basket weaved, cone-shaped, and classic heart cut-outs - Nana was a loving recipient! I think that she treasured them as much as we girls loved making them.
Making this years Valentine's out of our favorite red and pink fabric scraps will help them save for many Valentine's to come! It's also a wonderful way for us to use the prints that we admire and to think of Nana!
Drawing and decorating is a sweet time for everyone.
Hints of red and pink are popping up everywhere. We LOVE it!
One day we hope to have swoops of Ballerina roses adorning our house at every turn.
"This bud of love, by summer's ripening breath,
May prove a beauteous flower when next we meet."
~ William Shakespeare
Parties are the perfect time to share the things that you love with the ones that you love. We especially enjoy quotes and poems.
As Plato stated, "At the touch of love, everyone becomes a poet."
But as Oscar Wilde stated, "A poet can survive everything but a misprint."
...so we do our best in reciting each word as it was writ!
Since Mutti and I adore John Keats, we are sharing three of our many, many favorites!
"The excellency of every art is its intensity, capable of making all disagreeable evaporate." ~ John Keats
"Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard are sweeter." ~ John Keats
"What the imagination seizes as beauty must be truth." ~ John Keats
...make that four of our favorites!
"A thing of beauty is a joy forever: its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness."
~ John Keats
Happy Valentine's Day: mothers and daughters and sisters are truly meant to be cherished.
