Mutti and I are very excited about our new embroidery projects. It's been a morning of sewing and planning. We love to embroider and draw out all of our designs - so much fun! I remember going down to my Nana's house when I was first learning to sew, and she would always have a slew of projects that she was working on. Pillow cases, hand towels, dish towels, and yo-yo's - she made everything!
We are in love with vintage dresses! Thanks to many of our Etsy friends (sewbettyanddot, OneMoreCupOfTea, elyse72, and QuantitiesofQuaint), we have picked up some great finds. Just waiting for our fabric to arrive via snail-mail! The dresses are going to be so cute! Of course, we'll be posting about them...
I really love the way that my sister Tabitha used coloured thread for the stitching in this quilt!
Remember our trip to Mount Dora?!! We're thrilled with our 1920's ironing board that we found. Clean and sanded, it looks super cute in our dining room - perfect spruce-up to that "drab corner" we were trying to fix!
P.S. We are working on some new video clips to share with everyone...just have to do a bit of "tweaking". It's a new venture!
I love your embroidery! It is adorable and perfectly sewn.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Emily! Do you embroider?
DeleteNo, I do not embroider. I have always wanted to learn though. I think it is so beautiful when it is added to clothing. I especially like that you do it by hand, when so much embroidery is done my a machine. It is so original when it is done by hand.
DeleteWe absolutely agree! Yesterday we met a woman that was trying to sell us a machine that does embroidery work. We gave her your same response, "it's not as original". Plus, we just love the art of sitting and sewing together over coffee/tea with conversation. Hand-stitchery...there's no comparison!
DeleteAll of our embroidery work features our own drawings as well. We take sketches we've drawn, transfer them fabric, pull out the needles and thread, and voila...illustrations come to life via embroidery!
If you were closer to us, we'd invite you over for a day of sewing and teach you how ^_^
Another gorgeous blog post! I'm loving that pattern I can see on the far left--wow! Can't wait to see that one sewn up! You talented girls!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh Miss Sherri! You have such a good eye! That is the dress that we are going to work on next. We've picked out the fabric and can't wait to start sewing. It is going to be so yummy. We have a little story about that pattern on the left.....
DeleteAs soon as it's made, we'll share more ^_^
